‘The Liverpool Family of Schools’
 

The Liverpool Learning Partnership (LLP) was set up by school and education leaders to ensure the needs of all learners are prioritised. Known as ‘The Liverpool Family of Schools’, LLP has 99% of schools engaged in the Partnership from all phases of education: early years through to students in FE.

Collaboration is at the heart of LLP and we seek to bring an education perspective to major city initiatives. These include: The Families Programme; Community Cohesion; the Children and Family Trust; Liverpool Children’s Transformation Programme Board and Liverpool Challenge. We work closely with School Improvement Liverpool and the Local Authority Children’s Services to ensure that the learners in Liverpool are given every opportunity to achieve.

LLP has an Executive Board, chaired by Ruth Town, the Head teacher of St Michael in the Hamlet Primary School, with representatives from all phases of education, School Improvement, the Local Authority, City of Liverpool College and Liverpool Governor’s Forum. The Board meets termly to receive reports, set future priorities and drive forward the Partnership’s agenda. There are two sub groups: All Learners and Learners Who Need More. These are focussed groups, overseeing actions and programmes and delivering the LLP Strategic Plan, which has a range of priorities.

The Partnership was given a mandate by the Education Commission Report, From Better to Best’ and, in part, this has helped formulate key priorities. City of Readers is one of those priorities and LLP has been working with Jane Davis from The Reader Organisation and Mary Hind-Portley from School Improvement Liverpool to ensure Liverpool is a Reading City. Reading for pleasure is now one of our key initiatives and it has been exciting to see the development of this is in a wide range of ways. Liverpool Counts is our numeracy initiative, seeking to raise the profile of Numeracy at school, at home, in the workplace and in the city. Both of these initiatives have Quality Marks associated with them, which gives schools the opportunity to evaluate their practice and showcase their work.

Liverpool is a culturally rich, vibrant city and LLP is overseeing the work of the Liverpool Cultural Education Co-ordinator, Alice Demba, and helping to set up the Liverpool Cultural Education Partnership with a range of partners. This will ensure all Liverpool children access a wide range of cultural activities as part of an enhanced curriculum. We are also working with partners to drive forward a city wide attendance strategy, promoting school and workplace attendance through a Liverpool Charter for Attendance.
