Our Writing Quality Mark, which has been developed in conjunction with the Liverpool Learning Partnership and other local stakeholders, offers schools both locally and nationally, the opportunity to evaluate, and celebrate, their dedication to promoting writing for purpose and pleasure amongst their pupils.
The award, which recognises the efforts of schools in encouraging a lifelong love of writing for purpose and pleasure, is available to all primary, secondary and special schools.
In order to attain accreditation at bronze, silver or gold level, schools will be assessed across six key themes:
- Leadership and management
- Workforce development
- Writing promotion
- Writing events and groups
- School wide opportunities for writing for enjoyment
- Family/community involvement/ public library service
Assessment visits are available in the follow formats:
- A half-day onsite visit consisting of meetings with key stakeholders, learning walk, consideration of any evidence of writing for purpose and pleasure within the school
- A remote visit consisting of virtual meetings with key stakeholders and consideration of any evidence of writing for purpose and pleasure in the school. Evidence should be shared prior to the assessment (this might include, videos, photos and relevant documents).
Cost
The full LWQM programme is available for £599.
This includes a detailed self-assessment criterion, a half-day assessment visit, and full report.
The self-assessment criteria can be purchased separately at a cost of £50.
When used to inform you action planning, this can act as an effective tool to drive improvements in writing for purpose and pleasure in your school.
In addition, we also offer a suite of LWQM research based CPD videos.
These are designed to help you to launch the initiative, develop staff expertise and support you in evidencing the six key themes within the self-assessment criteria.
