Our new headteacher induction programme has been designed to ensure those new to the role (or the city) quickly become familiar with partnership arrangements, school services, support structures, procedures, key contacts and personnel within Liverpool Authority.
New headteachers will receive a full package of support to help develop leadership skills and build a network of cross-phase support that will enable you to transition into your role effectively in your first year of headship.

The SIL induction programme will provide:
- Induction Event
- Induction handbook
- Key Actions and Handover handbooks
- Mentor support
- A full year’s CPD programme
The Induction Event takes place early in the autumn term, where you will have the opportunity to hear key messages from senior Liverpool City Council and School Improvement Liverpool Officers, meet other new headteachers and their mentors and find out more about the range of continuous professional development planned across the year.
