Race Equality Guidance

EMTAS offers Race Equality Guidance to Schools - Liverpool Schools can access online guidance at no charge, all other establishments can order a copy for £50.

The guidance is supported by three paid, in-house or twilight training modules which are available at a subsidised rate under the funded offer.

  • Module 1: The Equality Act 2010 This will enable practitioners to understand the current legal and OFSTED requirements as well as providing a consideration of the data and information available to support the school’s compliance with the Equality Act 2010.
  • Module 2: Tackling Racist Incidents – where are we now? This will enable practitioners to reflect on current practice and determine strategies to develop more effective practice.
  • Module 3: Tackling Racist Incidents - what do we do? This will enable practitioners to consider what constitutes a racist incident and rehearse how to respond to different types of incident. It will consider procedures for dealing with all parties concerned

Recording Incidents

Schools should keep a record of any racist, homophobic or bullying incidents. Records  will be retained at school. EMTAS does have an example of a recording form which schools may wish to use.

Schools are encouraged to contact [email protected] should they require any additional support or guidance in dealing with incidents.
