SIL Recommended Reading Lists

Use our reading lists as a starting point for choosing quality texts to read aloud to children, to use as an anchor for planning or for enhancing provision in your classroom libraries. Our lists are split into four categories: Contemporary fiction, literary heritage, poetry and playscripts and non-fiction. Please note:  Many of the texts we have suggested are, of course, also suitable in other year groups.

One suggestion is to put pupils' initials  (and possibly the date) as you mark but see what works for you!
