Guidance for when you are concerned about possible inappropriate behaviour by a member of staff or volunteer towards a child.

It is important that you remember that you do not need to have clear evidence that a member of staff has acted inappropriately, you just need to have concerns which need to be considered.

You have a responsibility to share your concerns even if you are worried they may later turn out to be unfounded. You have potentially identified adult behaviours that do not follow your setting’s code of conduct or expected practice. It is important these are addressed.

Whilst some adults may just be acting naively and need guidance or further training, others may be unsuitable to work with children or pose a risk to children.
