Recruitment Consultants all undergo Certified Safer Recruitment training (specified for Headteachers and Governors) delivered by an accredited trainer with the Safer Recruitment Consortium. We adhere strictly to the specific recruitment and vetting checks which must be made on all people who wish to work with children and young people, as outlined in the DfE document, “Keeping Children Safe in Education.”
We complete the following vetting procedures on all teaching and support staff:
- Background scrutiny including highlighting any gaps in employment and/or education
- A full, in-person interview conducted by an experienced, fully trained consultant
- Professional references commenting on safeguarding and educational practice
- Identity and address check
- Confirmation of qualifications
- Teacher Reference Number (for teaching staff)
- Full Enhanced DBS (Criminal Records Check)
- Barred List check
- Disqualification check (where appropriate)
- Prohibition list (for teaching staff)
- Medical health check
- Eligibility to work in the UK
If applicable, the following checks will also be administered:
- Overseas criminal check
At SIL: Education Recruitment, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all of our teachers, clients and employees to share this commitment.
