Cycle2Work Scheme

Liverpool City Council runs a Cycle2Work scheme through Halfords. Please see below for further information and for details on how to sign up.

Sign up for Cycle2Work

Cycle2Work allows you to buy a bike and pay it back through your salary over 12 months.

A typical saving on a £500 bike is £112.90 over 12 months - meaning you pay only £387.10.

You can also buy clothing, equipment and accessories without buying a bike.

Staff on fixed term contracts with less than 12 months left on your contract are not eligible to apply.

Cycle2Work terms and conditions

Please read the terms and conditions before you apply. The scheme is open to Liverpool City Council employees and school staff on Liverpool City Council’s payroll. You have to be aged over 18.

You can apply for ONE hire agreement, value from between £100-£1500, in increments of £10. Loans are available over a 12-month period.

You can purchase just cycling clothing and/or equipment and accessories via Cycle2Work. You do not need to purchase a cycle. Minimum order value is £100.

Your first repayment will be taken from your salary the month after you have applied to the scheme.

If your repayments would take your earnings below the minimum wage and so you are not eligible for the monthly-deduction scheme you may qualify for a single-payment scheme.

Payroll will get in touch with you if they think this scheme would work best for you. Just apply in the usual way.

If you are on a fixed-term contract with less than 12-months left on your contract you are not eligible to apply. If your contract is renewed for 12 months you can apply at this point.

Unfortunately, staff on the members' payroll are not eligible for the scheme.

Full terms and conditions will be stated in your hire agreement. Please note your individual terms and conditions may vary.

Please note that you can only have one active Cycle2Work account at any one time.

Once you have completed your 12 monthly payments, you will be free to start a new account.

How to apply

Visit https://www.cycle2work.info/sign-up and enter your details and the employer code: LIVERPOOLCCC2W.

Once your registration has been submitted, please check your email and click on the link to proceed with your application.

Please note: You can only have one active Cycle2Work account at a time.

First visit your local store and select your bike. Don’t forget you can buy accessories as well and you need to factor these in to the total cost of your purchase. You need a grand total so you can apply for the correct amount.

Once you know how much you want to apply for submit your application via the link sent to you in your confirmation of registration email. You will need your Payroll ID number to hand. Fill in all the details (enter your date of birth in the following format 10/9/1984) and submit your application.

On submission you will be asked to put an electronic signature on the agreement, and will then receive an email confirming your pending application and agreement number.

When your application has been approved, you'll receive a second email containing your letter of collection and Cycle2Work vouchers. This will take around five working days.

Collecting your bike

Print off your letter of collection and take it to your local Halfords or Cycle Republic shop.

The amount on your letter of collection is your gross repayment figure and it does not take in to account the savings you're going to make due to tax and National Insurance deductions.

Making a purchase from an independent bike retailer?

Want to purchase your bike from one of over 850 independent bike retailers who have signed up to Cycle2Work?
