Course Overview
This competency assessment will support staff to ensure trip leaders are suitably skilled and experiences to lead groups of children up and down Moel Famau. This is the minimum prerequisite needed to lead groups on Moel Famau.
Why attend?
As a result of this assessment, delegated will be assessed as to whether they are suitably skilled to lead groups up and down Moel Famau. On completion delegates will get written confirmation of their competency to lead groups on Moel Famau provided they can demonstrate adequate competency. Allow your school to receive LA approval for trips to Moel Famua for educational visits
What will it cover?
On the course you will cover the following:
- Kit
- Weather conditions
- Navigation
- Risk management and risk-benefit assessment
- First aid and mountain rescue (this is not a certified qualification)
- Emergency procedures and incident reporting
- leadership
Any Supplementary Information
Previous experience of hill walking and visit leading desired but not essential.
Delegates must bring their own packed lunch & fluids and must be suitably dressed. A kit list will be given to candidates a minimum 7 days before the assessment.
