Over the course of this project, subject leaders will develop their own knowledge of poetry. They will explore how, when planned and taught in a strategic way in both KS1 and 2, poetry will have a positive impact on reading, writing and oracy outcomes.

What will it cover?
- Latest research from the updated Reading Framework 2023
- Training will cover using poetry to develop fluency, explore and revisit rich vocabulary, build mental models through imagery and figurative language and develop life-long readers. Training will be based on recommendations from the DfE. Subject leaders will gain full access to a newly developed database that includes a wide and diverse range of poems in different forms.
