Secondary SEND Advocate

( Funded Project)

Course Overview
SIL is pleased to offer an exciting training opportunity for Secondary teachers or support staff to become a Secondary SEND Advocate. This innovative 6-day programme will offer practitioners both theoretical and practical support whilst further developing their skills, knowledge and understanding of SEND.

Why attend?
In becoming a Secondary SEND Advocate, the practitioner will be well-equipped to support the role of the SENCO to help ensure the best possible educational outcomes are achieved for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

What will it cover?
This will be a very holistic course whereby reference to the graduated approach and the SEND code of practice will be referenced throughout. The days will be very interactive, and delegates will be expected to be prepared to discuss practice in their own setting in a safe environment in order to reflect, share good practice and develop their understanding of the role of the SEND Advocate.

Any supplementary information
Each session must be attended by the same delegate. Delegates will be asked to bring a laptop to some of the sessions for workshop type activities.

Who should attend?
The training is suitable for a key member of your teaching or support staff, who is passionate about supporting children with SEND.
