Course Overview
School Improvement Liverpool is pleased to offer an exciting training opportunity for level 3 qualified early years practitioners in PVI settings, who have responsibility for SEND. This in depth and comprehensive package, includes 12 full days of face-to-face training on how to effectively lead SEND. As part of the 12 days delegates will develop their confidence as leaders and build a network of both peer and professional support. They will work towards a Level 3 CACHE/NCFE qualification. The qualification is designed for those already working in a SENCO role as part of their early years practitioner role, or those who are interested in doing so. This qualification is also appropriate for childminders.

Why attend?
Early Years SENCo Award has been constructed in collaboration with educators, training organisations, SEND professionals, setting SENCo’s and managers from the PVI Sector to ensure it is meaningful. It has proven to inspire Early Years SENCo’s from across the PVI sector, offering Early Years practitioners both theoretical and practical support in their role as coordinators of SEND (special educational needs and disabilities). On successful completion of Early Years SENCo Award training, participants will receive certification from School Improvement Liverpool in recognition of their achievements. Participants will also be accredited with the Level 3 CACHE/NCFE qualification ‘Special Educational Needs Coordinator in Early Years Settings’.


What wil it cover?

  • Understand the principles, statutory guidance and legislation underpinning practice for children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) in an early years setting.
  • Understand the role of the Early Years Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), including supporting staff, working with families and setting a clear vision for SEND at the setting.
  • Understand partnership working for the Early Years SENCO.
  • Understand early identification and action for children with SEND.
  • Developing understanding of the Local Offer.


Who should attend?
Level 3 qualified early years practitioners in PVI settings, who have responsibility for SEND or those who have an interest in this role.

£1000.00 per delegate 

Any suppliementary information

  • Delegates must attend all 12 full day sessions of this training
  • Study time towards the 2 assignments is built into these 12 days.
  • Delegates must complete the 2 assignments to gain the level 3 qualification.
