About the School
The College is one of the most oversubscribed schools in Liverpool, sought out by local parents. There are some 900 applications for 174 places each year in Year 7, and GCSE results stand above national norms (Attainment 8 in 2023 was 49.6, compared to 41.7 Liverpool average and 46.2 national average). DFE data places the College in the second quintile for location, but fourth quintile (deprived area) for its intake 20% of our Year 7 cohort are selected on the basis of musical aptitude, and this number includes the Choristers of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, making the College (along with its partner primary school) the Cathedral Choir School for Liverpool. The choristers lead the choral liturgies of the Cathedral nearly every day in term time, and on major religious feast outside the school term.

 

Music is a jewel in the crown of the College, with orchestras, choirs and ensembles meeting a demanding and ambitious performance schedule. Sport and outward bound are also important extra-curricular endeavours, with a busy weekend sports programme involving hundreds of pupils. The Sixth Form at St Edward’s is one of the largest in the City, approx. 300 students strong, with excellent destinations data for students including impressive numbers entering the top universities in the country.

About the Role
This is an opportunity to join a very successful and in-demand Art/Design Faculty, in a Catholic school with a long and proud tradition. We are seeking to appoint an energetic, innovative and hardworking part time Teacher of Art to join the department and inspire pupils and students. At the core of this role is to uphold and support the College mission statement. The primary responsibilities are for learning, teaching and pupil progress – preparing and delivering an engaging curriculum, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and providing appropriate pastoral support to pupils within your care.

Personal Qualities
The successful candidate will be: An experienced Teacher of Art across the age and ability range, with a track record of high achievement (both raw and value added scores) at GCSE and A Level. Well qualified, enthusiastic, innovative and passionate about the study of Art. Willing to develop the particularly valuable extra-curricular side of Art.
