Overseas Teachers

Schools in the Liverpool City Region attract a large number of international teachers and we can help you find the perfect role. If you are a qualified teacher from a country outside the UK and are looking for supply work, we would love to hear from you.

Requirements to begin teaching in the UK are:

  • You must be licensed to teach in your own country

  • You will be required to provide a criminal background check from your own country, as well as the UK

  • You must have a QTS number

  • You must hold a valid work visa (more information about visas can be found here.


Overseas-trained teachers may also teach in state maintained schools and non-maintained special schools in England as unqualified teachers for four calendar years. This is known as the four year rule and it applies to teachers who qualified in countries outside of the EEA and Switzerland except for teachers who qualified in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States of America (USA).
