Please note, our recruitment is now complete for the current NPQSL programme. All applications now will be considered for the January 2018 cohort.
Accredited by the Department for Education (DfE), the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) course involves candidates creating and implementing in their school a project to reduce variance in pupil progress and attainment, and which aims to directly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching. This project can be tailored to be in line with the school development plan.
The course includes online leadership skills units, with additional face to face training sessions at key points, and can include specialist training for, e.g. SEND.
This course is designed to fit around school life, with minimal time out of school, quality additional training opportunities and includes 30 credits at masters level on completion.
Any staff working in schools are eligible to apply for the courses; however you will need your line managers approval, access to leading a team for the duration of the project, and the ability to deliver and gather information on a project that needs to be sustained for at least two terms.
Online modules will be released in ‘windows’ of two weeks, to manage workload efficiently at non-peak times of the school calendar, and will be supported by 24 hour online tutors for the duration of the window.
Feedback will be given during the online units, and you will have bespoke 121 support in writing up your project before submission of the final assessed report at the end of the course.
You will have a designated course leader who will be your main point of contact during the course, and you will receive a certified award on completion that can be counted as 30 masters level credits if you wish to continue your studies.
There are two cohorts each year for NPQSL, one in October and another in January. We accept applications all year round, with candidates going into the next available starting date.
