Accredited by the Department for Education (DfE), the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML) involves leading a bespoke project aiming to improve pupil progress and team capability. This can be tailored to be in line with the school development plan or a stand alone project.
The course includes online leadership skill development units with additional face to face training sessions available at key points. It is designed to fit around school life, with minimal time out of school, quality additional training opportunities and includes 30 credits at masters level on completion.
Any staff working in schools are eligible to apply; however you will need your line managers approval, access to leading a team for the duration of the project, and the ability to deliver and gather information on a project that needs to be sustained for at least two terms.
Online modules will be released in ‘windows’ of two weeks, to manage workload efficiently at non-peak times of the school calendar, and will be supported by 24 hour online tutors for the duration of the window.
Feedback will be given during the online units, and you will have bespoke 121 support in writing up your project before submission of the final assessed report at the end of the course.
You will have a designated course leader who will be your main point of contact during the course, and you will receive a certified award on completion that can be counted as 30 masters level credits if you wish to continue your studies.
There are two cohorts each year, in January and October. We recruit from January to September for the October cohort, and from October to December for the January cohort. If you have a preferred start date that is later than the next available start date please indicate that in your application.
