Catch-Up Funding Offer - Available Now!

 

We recently chatted to Educate Magazine on how our 'Catch-Up' package is supporting schools to reinstate a broad and balanced curriculum. You can read the article in full by visiting our news section.

 

We are pleased to announce the launch of our Catch-Up Funding Offer to schools. The offer focuses on five areas: Maths, English, Science, SEND and PSHE and has been developed to include a combination of training and resources.

 

The offer uses DfE guidance and EEF recommendations to support leaders, teachers and teaching assistants with evidence-based approaches for teaching, targeted academic support and wider strategies.

Our Catch-Up Funding Offer is free to Liverpool Primary and Secondary schools that access the Universal Offer. 

 

Other schools can access all the resources and training included in each area of the offer at the following prices: Maths Phase 1 - £250, Maths Phase 2 - £250, English Phase 1- £250, English Phase 2 - £250, Science Phase 1 - £200, SEND Phase 1 - £200, SEND Phase 2 - £200. Maths Catch-Up Funding Offer - Phase 1 and Phase 2 Available Now

Phase 2 maths resources are available now and can be found here. Phase 1 resources can still be found here.  Please note, only schools entitled to the Catch-Up Funding Offer will be able to download these. You must be signed in to your SIL account. 

 

Maths Phase 2 includes the following:

  • Diagnostic Assessment resources to support quality first teaching and targeted intervention for multiplication, division and fractions
  • Intervention lessons for Years 1-7 to support understanding in multiplication, division and fractions
  • Pre-recorded training sessions for teachers and LSAs to support effective implementation of the intervention lessons for each year group (to access at your own convenience) 
  • Booklets for parents/carers of children in Years 1-7 detailing vocabulary and games to support understanding of multiplication, division and fractions

 

EYFS:  COMING SOON:

  • Training for LSAs in EYFS 'Supporting maths through play'
  • Activities to support mathematical development plan 
  • QIO support developing provision to enhance mathematical development

Phase 1 includes:

  • Diagnostic assessment training and resources for maths leads (EYFS to Y7) to support quality first teaching and formative assessment.
  • A sequence of 10 intervention lessons for year groups 1-7 to support a small group of targeted children to make accelerated progress towards age related expectations. These lessons will be delivered by a teaching assistant in addition to the whole class maths lesson and we will provide training for TAs through recorded sessions and a 30 min follow up 'drop in' session.
  • A 1 hour online training session for teaching assistants on managing groupwork and effective feedback.
  • A booklet for parents and carers in year groups Reception - 7 detailing key vocabulary, games and activities to support understanding of number.
  • Bespoke training for EYFS staff or subject leads focusing on developing early mathematic skills.
  • Support with EYFS intervention program (choosing the right tool for you, using a tool already in place). 
  • Supported undertaking of mathematics audit in EYFS provision.

English Catch-Up Funding Offer - Phase 1 and 2 Available Now

Phase 2 includes:

  • Diagnostic Assessments to support quality first teaching and targeted intervention for spelling including resources to assess against dictated transcription and independent writing.
  • Teaching sequences for Years 1-6 to support understanding and application in spelling. These can be used for small intervention groups or can be delivered to the whole class.
  • Progression maps in spelling to support diagnostic assessment.
  • Teacher's notes and overviews to support with subject knowledge.
  • A series of pre-recorded training sessions (to access at your own convenience) for English subject leaders, teachers and teaching assistants on how to use and get the most out of these materials.

 

Phase 1 includes:

  • Grammar Grouper resources for Y1-6 to enable teachers to create targeted groups of children for support.
  • Diagnostic questions for domains of grammar across KS1 and KS2.
  • Teaching sequences, adapted for relevant year groups that can be delivered as a whole class or to support a small group of targeted children to make accelerated progress towards age related expectations. 
  • Early Reading Diagnostic and Planning tool for Reception and Year 1 practitioners.
  • Booklets for parents/carers in each year group detailing how to support children with reading and writing at home.
  • Home Learning Pack to support parents/carers of Reception aged children
  • Pre-recorded training (to access at your own convenience) for English subject leaders on how to get the most out of these materials in schools, support quality first teaching and formative assessment.
  • Pre-recorded training (to access at your own convenience) for teachers on how to get the most out of these materials in schools.
  • Pre-recorded training (to access at your own convenience) for teaching assistants on how to deliver quality sessions in school using these materials.
  • Pre-recorded training (to access at your own convenience) for Reception and Y1 practitioners on how to get the most out of the Early Reading materials in their setting.

Science Catch-Up Funding Offer - Phase 1 Available Now

Any science resources now available to download can be found here. Please note, only schools entitled to the science Catch-Up Funding Offer will be able to download these. You must be signed in to your SIL account.

  • Pre-recorded session which details how to use the resource packs. 
  • Key catch up units of work which address those scientific themes that primary practitioners generally teach in the spring/summer terms and which are not revisited later in the primary phase.
  • Support materials for Early Years professionals in the key scientific methodology and concepts covered in the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
  • Catch up booklets, which in phase 1, cover the following themes;
    • Key scientific concepts in EYFS
    • States of Matter
    • Sound
    • Light
    • Rocks
    • Earth and Space

Each of the catch-up booklets will be designed to cover the key areas of learning within each of the themes/year groups and developed to be taught either in school or at home.  They will include an introduction to the materials, background knowledge for practitioners and parents/carers, key vocabulary, cross curricular links, links to web-based resources, a range of practical activities, support for home learning and a pupil workbook.

SEND Catch-Up Funding Offer - Phase 1 and Phase 2 Available Now

Phase 1 includes a series of pre-recorded sessions focusing on the following areas;

  • The use of observation in effectively identifying strengths and areas for development (for teachers).

  • The role of effective and appropriate questioning to identify gaps and develop understanding (for teachers).
  • The role of effective and appropriate questioning to identify gaps and develop understanding (for support staff).
  • There will be three phase specific recordings for each session.

PSHE Catch-Up Funding Offer - Phase 2 Available Now

The primary PSHE catch-up offer has been designed to help teachers identify and remove gaps as a result of time spent out of school due to COVID-19 restrictions. The offer focusses on the skills, knowledge and values children need to thrive within school and life beyond school. Phase 2 includes a series of live training sessions covering the following areas:
